Frist Indirectly Declares Candidacy For President

Its about time. After stupidly intervening in the Terry Schiavo case, based on his viewing of a videotape mind you, and then lying to everyone about his intervention, Mr. Bill Frist, Senate Majority Leader and all around conservative poobah announced his candidacy for the President today.

Okay, he didn't really announce his candidacy. What he did was to break with the President's policy and come out, no pun intended (okay, maybe some pun intended), in support of the legislation to remove some of the limits imposed by the Administration on embryonic stem cell research.

Knowing that the man switches positions based on political expediency, it should come as no surprise that Monsieur Frist "last month said he did not support expanding federal financing of research on embryos" and that "his decision was consistent with both his experience as a physician and his anti-abortion stance."

If this isn't an announcement for a run at the Presidency, I don't know what is.
